Overview

Chicago Title is seeking to hire a commercial real estate professional to perform closings for local and national business in our Milwaukee office. The escrow officer leads the closing process for commercial real estate transactions. Managing real estate transactions, ensuring all necessary documents are prepared, and facilitating closings. Their duties include negotiating short sale transactions, ordering title commitments, lien searches, and property surveys, reviewing title policies, and preparing title insurance policies. They also maintain client relationships, manage escrow accounts, and adhere to real estate contracts and lender instructions. Unique tasks include obtaining subordination statements, deeds, estoppel statements, and other documentation necessary to remove items from title, and preparing and reviewing instruments of conveyance and related documents to ensure accuracy and authenticity.

Duties

  • Review purchase contract, title commitment, and escrow instructions from attorneys and lenders in order to prepare settlement statements and the necessary real estate documents for closing.
  • Conduct basic math calculations to verify closing figures, prorations and payoffs.
  • Compile documents necessary to complete the transaction.
  • Collaborate with title officers, underwriters, and other team members to gather necessary information for closing.
  • Maintain accurate records of all transactions and post updates in the system.
  • Communicate with buyers/borrowers, sellers, attorneys, and brokers to provide updates on the status of their closing.
  • Address any post-closing matters.
  • Follow established procedures and guidelines to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Education

High scool diploma or equivalent.

Experience

  • 2-4 years of escrow-related experience
  • Legal Experience a plus
  • Previous experience in a similar role within the real estate banking, title, financial or legal industry is preferred.
  • Knowledge of commercial documents is a plus
  • Proficient in using computer systems and software for data entry and record-keeping
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
